Blepharospasm
Description:Blepharospasm is a term used to describe uncontrollable blinking eyelids. This is caused by spontaneous contractions eye muscles.Under normal circumstances, within one minute of human eyelid blink as much as tentimes. However, in patients with blepharospasm eyes blink more than ten times in a minute.The cause of this blinking disorder is unclear, but this disorder is related todisturbances in the basal ganglia. Basal ganglia are part of the brain that regulatesand spontaneous movement.Symptoms:- blink more than ten times without underlying cause- glare- the surface of dry eye ballsTreatment:Treatment is usually with the provision of medicines, such as Botox (botulinum toxin)injections, and surgery.
